December 2008 Newsletter
Next City Meeting:
Thursday, December 11
City Hall
7:30 pm
Dear citizens,
As we approach the holiday season , here are a few reminders to keep our houses and cars safer.......
1) On your answering machines--Please don't say "We are not home right now." That gives a possible thief the impression you aren't home. "We can't come to the phone" is a good non-information greeting.
2) As you go to malls and shops to buy gifts, remember to put packages out of sight or in your trunks. Please lock your vehicles and park them in a well-lighted portion of the lot. When walking to your car, BE AWARE of YOUR SURROUNDINGS!
3) As always, if you go on vacation, we will happily watch your house. Just call 502-710-9470 (City cell phone) to give us your information.
Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
Chief Christian Redman
Notes from the Mayor
During a recent police investigation, with blue lights flashing and Metro and Jeffersontown Police attending, a resident rolled a stroller up to the police car and asked what was going on. I have been requested to instruct all residents that such conduct is unacceptable, places the resident in harm’s way and could compromise the investigation. Therefore, I am requesting that all residents avoid any police vehicles within the City of Hurstbourne Acres during an Active Police Investigation.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a most prosperous New Year.
The Mayor
Come meet the newly elected Commissioners at the regular City business meeting on Thursday, December 11, 7:30 at Nunnlea. Swearing-in of the new officers will be at the end of the meeting. Afterwards there will be a reception with cake and coffee. Come and meet and greet your officials. This will be a good time for constructive ideas and/or complaints about our City.
Residents who would like a roll-around recycle bin, please call Jim Lynch at 491-8446. Please tie up your limbs and tree branches into bundles 3 ft. to 4 ft. long for easy pickup.
