In 1998, the Hurstbourne Acres City Park was renamed the Stanley B. Welch City Park in honor of Mr. Stanley B. Welch who served as Commissioner and Mayor of the City of Hurstbourne Acres for many years.

The park is located on approximately two and one-half acres and provides a nice shaded area for many activities. The brick wellhouse located there is believed to be approximately one hundred years old. Adjacent to the park is a five-acre retention basin and green space with a berm that adds openness and additional space for various activities. Each year, the City holds its Annual Summer Picnic and an Easter Egg Hunt at the park. The park is also available to residents for personal use and for functions such as family reunions and picnics. A water fountain and plenty of picnic tables are available. The most popular feature of the park is the playground area with new equipment, including swings, sitting on a sandlot.

The annual city picnic is always at the City's Stan Welch Park.
